McDonough Media currently has access to more than two dozen current and former media executives with experience ranging from finance to design, and editorial to production. These associates are the brightest minds in their discipline of the media business, and are called upon based on varying client project needs.
Managing Director Dan McDonough, Jr. is at the helm of all client projects. McDonough Media never handles more than one major consulting project at a time, ensuring that all of the firm’s resources can be dedicated to each and every project. Dan McDonough, Jr. is managing director of McDonough Media, LLC. He also serves as chairman and chief executive of Elauwit, LLC, a media company based in South Jersey in which he is a principal. Dan was president and chief executive of Staten Island Media Group, LLC, in New York City another publishing company in which he was a partner from February 2004 to March 2005. Dan was the architect for the acquisition of the Staten Island Register, the first of Elauwit’s newspapers, in August 2002. A year after Elauwit’s first acquisition, Dan had lead a management team that launched three additional publications and grew revenues by more than 40 percent. In the company's second year, Dan organized the sale of the New York City publishing assets to Staten Island Media Group in an equity deal that had allowed for additional acquisitions and substantial growth in circulation. Before taking the entrepreneurial route, Dan worked in the news operations of some of the world's largest news companies — including Dow Jones and Gannett. He has won numerous regional and national journalism awards, and his editorials have appeared in The Masthead — the journal of the National Conference of Editorial Writers. Dan got his first management job in the media business when he was 19 years old, as executive editor of one of the largest independent weekly newspapers in New Jersey, The Observer. Under Dan's tenure, the century-old paper was recognized with multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. Dan’s principal focus is on financial and operational systems that are designed to ensure profitability goals — even in the most trying situations. His leadership approach creates an environment in which managers buy into the process of improvement, and then continue that constant process of improvement after the consulting process is completed. |
